The use of slate as a roofing material has stood the test of time - did you know that it has been used on Scottish buildings since early Mediaeval times?
Slate remains an extremely energy efficient material, keeping the heat in and the cold out.
It's one most widely used in building materials in Scotland due to its well-earned reputation as a long-lasting material.
Our Inverness-based slaters are experts in working with Ballachulish slate, also known as West Highland slate.
The quarry from which this visually striking slate was cut may have closed in 1955 yet it remains greatly sought after.
The answer will always depend on a range of factors including personal preference, the pitch of your roof, the surrounding area and nearby houses as well as your budget.
Tile offers a great option for any shape or size of a building.
Tiled roofs require minimal maintenance and offer a long-life span and come in a range of colours and materials.
The use of roof tiles is beneficial due to protecting the building from overheating in summer but ensuring the sun heats the inside during winter, as well as maintaining a weather tight building.
Green or garden roofs provide building owners and tenants with many ecological, technical and economic benefits.
When it comes to green roofing, we're at the top of the game - Macleod Roofing was the 2018 winner of the Scottish NFRC award for the best green roof.
This was for our work on the Cairngorm National Park Authority headquarters in Grantown-on-Spey, where an intensively planted roof was incorporated seamlessly into their existing building.
Green - or garden - roofs provide building owners and tenants ecological, technical and economic benefits.
