Andrew in turn passed on his expertise to his nephew Henry who began working with the firm in 1944 at the tender age of 13 after his father died.
Henry went to night school to study the business and to become a "Master Slater".Henry ran the business for over 60 years, although in his latter years he had to concede the business of climbing ladders to the younger generation, the late Dawson Currie, and John, Kevin and Gillian who run the present day business.
