A Slate roof is the longest lasting roofing material you will find on a domestic roof in the UK.
Some Slate roofs We have removed have been on the property from the day they were built, more than a hundred years ago.
And in quite a lot of cases We have been able to salvage in the region of 75% that are more than good enough to be put back onto the roof when We undertake a reroof to the property.
Slate roofs can last decades without the need for replacement.
Sometimes original slate roofs have been in situ for over 100 years before any real problems begin to occur.
Tiled roofs come in a variety of designs and colours, to suit either You the individual, or the property you are looking to reroof.
From flat Tiles to profiled Tiles, from brown to orange (farmhouse red) there is usually a solution to every customers needs.
Concrete tiles can add a new and fresh look to Your property, giving it kerb appeal if You are thinking of selling it, or just for yourself when you pull up at night after a long day at work.
Tile roofs have a relatively long lifespan.
Sometimes a bit of maintenance: replacing broken tiles, repairing leadwork or repointing ridge can prolong this a little further.
GRP Fibreglass is probably the best and strongest system we have found for not only flat roofing, but low pitched roofs, gullys, dormer cheeks and balconies.
With it's no lap liquid and Fibreglass matted system, it is ideal for any flat roof renewal, newly constructed roofs, rainwater gullys, and many other designs and features.
It is virtually impenetrable, hard wearing and the answer to the age old problem of flat roofs and their limited lifespans.
GRP Fibreglass is a liquid and Fibreglass matted system that puts an end to the visible laps a traditional felt, and newer EPDM rubber flat roofs invariably come with.
Torch-on Felt roofs can be found on many homes around the UK.
Whether it is on a garage roof, kitchen extension or dormer roof.
It is a flat roofing system that as been in use for the last 70 years or so, and if done correctly can give you many years of watertight service.
The general consensus is that the lifespan of a Felt roof is anywhere from 10 to 15 years.
But there are exceptions, and we have seen many that have been installed some 25 years previously.
It may just be down to whoever installs the system how long it lasts, or to wherever it is positioned on a home and the weather it has to endure that determines it's longjevity.
Leadwork is an essential part of any roof, and without it your roof would not be watertight.
It is your bridge between any brickwork you have and the roof system that abuts it, this most commonly on a domestic dwelling being a chimney stack.
There are different procedures of how to soaker and flash your roof system against any brickwork, and this all depends on the type of tile or even slate your property has.
Secret soakers are used with slate and plain tiles (10"x6") and these sit on top of the slate or tile 3", (length varying)and go up the chimney 3" and are not visible once the next slate or tile is laid on the course above.
